    Towering Disaster Rots From Within

Another brick and mortar store refused to reinvent itself to keep relevant and thus, Tower Records goes the way of the dodo. In the era of iTunes and iPods they stuck to their guns, ignored the changing needs and desires of the market and plowed ahead anyway.

    With predictable results.

Reminds me of when I went to local Tower a short time ago. The place was sad and empty as the morning after a large party that no one cleaned up after. I was half-expecting a tumbleweed to roll through and a howling wind to shake the clerks out of their stupor.

It reeked of forgotten glories, missed opportunities and Chapter 11.

The lesson today: keep fresh, keep being interesting, keep reinventing yourself and your company – because you can bet your competitor is and btw, that tang of hot, moist air you feel back there? It’s them breathing down your neck.
