    MyBlogLog - The Greater ROI Stats Tracking Tool Of Choice

    Over on the Yahoo LinkedIn Bloggers group, Robyn asked a good question that I often get from new clients. So I’m posting her question and my response here so that more people can benefit from the exchange.

    “If a client asks you how to measure the ROI of your blogging/social networking campaign, what do you say?  I’m asking specifically for a request for measurables.” –Robyn

    My Response:

    “I’ll add what I’ve learned about fielding this request into the many good suggestions you received, Robyn.

    The measurables your clients want are the same ones every client wants. The first indicator of ROI is an increase in sales and/or responses — depending one whether you’re doing a lead-gen campaign or straight direct sales.

    Because we all so like to “see the numbers,” something I’ve added to my blogs and to client blogs is the site statistics package at MyBlogLog.com. They’re going to become big Real Soon Now because Yahoo just purchased them.

    MyBlogLog will show you who has been reading your client’s blog using a decently powerful statistics program that tracks the blog’s incoming and outgoing traffic.

    I switched over to MyBlogLog when Performancing (another great tracking and stats program for blogs) went belly-up.

    FeedBurner, which tracks feed subscriptions and traffic now offers a site stats package as well. Currently, I’m finding their stats program non-intuitive, but I’m only hoping they will improve over time. But for now, MyBlogLog is my Tool Of Choice.

    If you go with MyBlogLog for your client, take a few moments and set up a profile for them. You’ll be surprised at how quickly people will be looking for more information about your client.

    And just for the record, I’m not affiliated with them in any way. Just happy I found one of the few stats tracking packages for blogs that’s going to stay solvent.

    I would further add that if you go with MyBlogLog that you set up your profile so you can connect with other readers of your (or your client’s) blog.

    Here is the news item about the purchase. And if you ever had any doubts about the power of blogging and its significance to search engine placement, here’s a way to prove it to yourself and put those doubts to rest (and you know me — I’m all about the proof):

    1. Google “mybloglog, yahoo” (without the quote marks).

    2. Look at your search results. Approximately the first 3 pages are blog posts from many different blogs! I had to go to the middle of page 3 to get a recognized news source for the company’s purchase.

    That’s why you, Mr. Company Stakeholder should have a blog for your business.
