NASA Lifts Off With New Blogging Tool

Watch your profits soar with ROI Copy! NASA is using WordPress, the blogging platform of choice — for one of their new research projects. See it here.

In fact, there’s a reason more and more blogging professionals and newbies are turning to flexible and easy-to-use blogging platforms like WordPress and away from rigid platforms like Blogger. As I’ve detailed in another post, there are too many things you can’t do in Blogger that are a breeze in WordPress. Important things like using your blog to drive and attract traffic which leads to the Name Of The Game which is to boost revenues and increase responses.

Read an earlier post where I revealed how Blogger prevents you from getting more traffic.

And the more I use WordPress for my own blogs and client blogs, the more we all appreciate it. And when I do the inevitable hand-off of the writing of the clients’ ghostblogs, they really appreciate how easy it is to use and manage.

Blogger is neither for more than 2 reasons, but to keep this post short, I’m only going to focus on the top two.

    #1 - Categories

WordPress gives you the gift and blessing of “Categories.” Categories powerfully improve the structure of your site for humans visitors and for the search engines. For example, when I examine my site stats, the most clicked category of the ROI Copy blog is “Pro Analysis.” Readers can click on that category and read all the posts I’ve written that falls under that subject. New platform for the new copywriting, ROI Copy

That’s where Blogger hobbles readers and content creators alike. It only archives previous posts by their month and date. To read my posts that are customized to their interests, like my Pro Analysis category – if I was using Blogger they would have to go through my entire archives to find the posts that interested them most.

If they wanted to read my new practical applications of quantum mechanics category, all they have to do is click on “Heisenberg Fridays.” Very convenient. Especially when you consider my blog now has over 200 posts, that would be pretty discouraging to wade through all that, but WordPress’s categories feature makes it very easy and convenient for everyone.

Why Search Engines ‘Heart’ Your Categories

Categories are also very search engine friendly. When you use Categories in your blog, there is a link on every one of your pages to your categories. Think about this: would you rather be #1 in the search engines for May 2007, or for one of the main keywords of your site?

By using the Category feature, you will eventually have hundreds of pages on your site with links to all the major keywords for your site. All those backlinks to those keywords will result in higher search engine rankings.

Another cool feature is that you can easily create an RSS feed for each of your categories. Then every time you post to your blog, it could be pinging the Blog/RSS directories for each feed! Walter Terry's ROI Copy for more traffic!

    #2 - “Feed Me!”

You can set up WordPress to automatically ping all the RSS and blog feed directories every time you make a post. If you want your blog to get a lot of traffic right away, you want to take advantage of this very powerful feature. On top of that, you’ll be quickly and automatically developing backlinks to your blog.

Think about how long it can take you to build a regular site, get the search engines to index it, get backlinks to improve your listings, and then start getting traffic. A blog using the WordPress platform does all that “heavy lifting” work for you automatically.

Compare that to putting up a new page on your traditional, static website. Even if the search engines find your new page right away, it might be a month or two before it actually gets indexed and starts drawing traffic. It might be a long time before it enjoys a first page position for its keywords.

With WordPress’s auto-pinging feature, that happens in a matter of days.

WordPress and Blogger — while both are free, one gives you more bang for the buck.
