HF* - Dodgeball In A Quantum World

Do you create your own reality? One of the most intriguing themes from the film “What The Bleep” is theQuit playing dogeball with your revenues -- ROI Copy! idea that you are actually in control of your life and that quantum science is the ultimate proof of that. Possibly your reality (i.e., your life) is more like warm, moldable plastic that you can shape with your mind, than it is a random dodgeball-like flurry of events impacting you.

But does every thought manifest, or is it more likely that it’s your expectations that manifest? Like me, you’ve probably noticed that what you tend to unconsciously accept, you expect to happen. And what you expect to happen, tends to do so.

    You’ve noticed that, right?

And if you can’t see that in your own life, then you’ve undoubtedly noticed in other extreme cases — such as the friend or family member who never expects things to turn out well for them . . . and it never does. Or the terminally-cheerful soul who dances through life and rarely experiences the pain and drama that beseiges others.

    Cause - Effect.

Unconscious expectation determining which thoughts get to inhabit the mind, those in turn influence exterior circumstances, i.e., reality. It’s not as woo-woo as the idea at first seems when you look at it scientifically.

This is clipped from an interview WTB’s financier and Co-Director, William Arntz did with Salon magazine.

“It’s the idea that you create your own reality and that there is an interface between mind and matter, as quantum physics suggests. We don’t quite understand it all yet, but it seems to be there.

That sort of idea is very huge. We’re getting away from Newton and Descartes, where the world was set up with a physical universe “out there” and our minds have no interface with it … We’re saying exactly the opposite. We happen to the universe. We create the universe; we spin it out from what’s inside of us. And that’s a completely 180 degree turn. It has a lot of ramifications as to how people live their lives and how they react to so-called external events.”

William Arntz Co-director of What The BleepI like the idea of “you create your own reality” because it is the ultimate self-responsibility. And hey, I’m all about being in-control.

P.S. - I nearly titled this post “Descartes Before Da Horse,” riffing off something William Arntz said in his interview. But then the dodgeball idea came along and shifted the focus a bit. Just wanted you to know I can restrain myself vis-e-vie plays on words. I just often choose not to exercise that restraint.

    * = About Heisenberg Fridays. Each Friday’s post is my tip of the hat to Werner Heisenberg the creator of quantum mechanics’ Uncertainty Principle. Once a week I’ll talk about whatever I want outside of the realms of marketing, sales, advertising or copywriting. More often than not, it will be about one of my favorite studies –  the research into quantum mechanics and how consciousness influences reality.

So for most of the week you’ll be certain of the overall theme of my posts, but each Friday there will be that uncertainty about the topic.

I particularly enjoyed this post and look forward to your making some sense of the Quantum Universe and the “creating your own reality” conversation. I know I can count on you to thoughtfully introduce us to the “who’s who” of this new domain, bring critical thinking to the “woo woo” of it, and then point us to the “how to” that will make it practical.

P.S. - Congratulations on your frequent and valuable posts.
