Leper! Leper!! Copywriter’s Goof Shames Him Into Hiding

Arrgghhh! I did it. After all the commentary and finger-pointing at others for using useless phrases, Eliminate useless words when you use ROI Copywriting!yesterday while editing copy for a client (that I wrote), this line lay on the page like the proverbial “tootsie roll” in the pool:

“Needless to say, you’ll have that answer you’re looking for. Agreed?”

Worse, I wrote it. Me. The guy who makes fun of others using it. And here I am in a virtual mugshot for the same crime.

Here I am talking about useless words back in September and March:

Hackneyed Phrases You Want To Throw Away . . . Forever!

Be More Effective - Strike These Words From Your Vocabulary

I’m still trying to scrub the phrase from my mind. “Out, out damned spot!” Geez, who would have thought Lady MacBeth and I had anything in common?

Ah well, if I didn’t occasionally make dumbassed mistakes — I’d be someone else.
