Survey Says, "Half of Americans Have Little Use for Internet and Cell Phones"

Over 30 years since I stopped watching game shows and I still hear Richard Dawson in my head whenever Survey Says, ROI Copywriting!I read or say those two words, “Survey says . . .”. I hate it when that happens, don’t you?

So, are you one of them? The “half” in the survey, I mean. Which is a Big Ouch for the tech industries, but nothing hurts the facts.

Reading the report (because many of my clients are in the tech industry) and taking the quiz, I discovered I’m an “Omnivore” (those who fully embrace technology and express themselves creatively through blogs and personal Web pages).

But the quiz doesn’t allow the flexibility to assess the full spectrum. I also qualify as “Connector” ”Productivity Enhancer” and “Lackluster Veteran.”

Though I gotta say, I don’t consider myself lackluster by any means. To me, that label actually means, ‘Yeah, we use the tech but we’re not necessarily thrilled by the latest gadget and geegaws.’

Here’s a snippet from the article:

NEW YORK —  A broad survey about the technology people have, how they use it, and what they think about it shatters assumptions and reveals where companies might be able to expand their audiences.

The Pew Internet and American Life Project found that adult Americans are broadly divided into three groups: 31 percent are elite technology users, 20 percent are moderate users and the remainder have little or no usage of the Internet or cell phones.

I strongly advise you read the full report and think, ‘how can I apply that information to my business?’
