You’re denied access to higher states of consciousness because “the media” wants to keep that information
from you. At least that’s the story according to noted Professor of Physics John Hagelin (you probably know him best as one of the quantum physicists in “What The Bleep“). He thinks “the media” is to blame for your lack of
inspiration to seek higher levels of awareness.
As someone who writes what “the media” puts in front of “the people,” I’m keenly aware why there’s a dearth about enlightenment in the today’s culture.
Here’s the short answer: Because the “people” don’t want it! That’s why, Professor Hagelin.
There’s no vast conspiracy to keep people in the dark, it’s simply a matter of what “the people” choose to pay attention to and buy. And right now, ‘greater knowledge’ is not what’s selling, at least not yet.
Trust me, if a lot of money can be made on the ‘expanded knowledge’ field, it will be “exposed” to “the people.” That’s because in the culture we live in, money talks, all else walks. And can betcher bottom-dollar on that, my learned friend.
Recently, films and books that are more scientifically-grounded like “What The Bleep,” (but not mental fantasies like “The Secret” and the dreadful “Celestine Prophecy”) have shown that there may be a small market for this.
Not huge, and not profitable (yet) by any means.
Here’s what the professor said that provoked me into writing this post, and after that I’ll further prove my side of the argument:
“Knowledge is the greatest motivator. If people simply know what the potential of life is, what higher states of consciousness beyond waking, dreaming and sleeping offer to [that] life, and what the world would be like, when people are living unity-consciousness, people will be [more] motivated.
The only reason people are not motivated is we’re not exposed to knowledge. [blogger's emphasis]
The media today, what sort of knowledge does the media present to people? Only as much as they need to present to get them to go out and buy a hamburger. Not enough, really. Not enough to inspire people to let them know what’s possible in life.”
I understand where he’s coming from, but I agree and disagree with his conclusions. As part of the ominous “media” he refers to, I’m also aware that many “people” don’t want more advanced knowledge — about anything. They don’t want to know that Consciousness + Energy = Reality.
They don’t want to know how their brain works, how a focused thought held in the prefrontal cortex carries the
command to create that image/reality, as it is transmitted through the brain’s limbic system and into the cerebellum (the physical anchor of the subconscious mind).
Then shortly thereafter, that image is manifested into the external environment for all to see and enjoy. But by and large professor, ”the people” don’t want to know that.
Who wants to know that? Did you? Very few do, and as such it’s specious to blame the businessfolk for the messages “the people” selectively pay attention and tune into.
Here’s a hint Professor Hagelin, copywriters like me have to write to an 8th graders level of comprehension. And every test, every study the marketing and advertising industries have done proves this: the higher the grade level we write to, the farther and faster sales plummet.
I know which grade level my clients want me to write at — the level that generates the most sales! So say buh-bye to Dennis Miller and hello Jethro Bodine.
Now . . . whose responsibility is that? Mine or “the people”?
Hmmm . . . think I’ll ping the good professor and see if his side of argument is changed by any of this.
Stay tuned . . .
* = About Heisenberg Fridays. Every Friday I get to talk about whatever I want outside of the realms of marketing, sales, advertising or copywriting. More often than not, it may be about one of my favorite studies – the research into quantum mechanics and how (or if) consciousness influences reality.
So why Heisenberg? Because normally you can be certain that the overall theme of my posts will related to copywriting, etc., but each Friday you will have uncertainty about the topic. Thus my tip of the hat to Werner Heisenberg the creator of quantum mechanics’ Uncertainty Principle.
