Marketing The REAL "Secret" - Lifting The Face Off

If Common Sense fled the scene 2 years ago, then it returned with a vengence when copywriting legend ROI Copywriting is the secret to greater sales!Clayton Makepeace wrote this hilarious take on “The Secret.” It’s good to see we’re of like minds about the subject. But . . . heh, he brings up some more good points I never thought of and he’s funnier in the process.

I’ve included the excerpt below, but click the link to read the whole article in all it’s hilarious glory. In addition to a good laugh, you’ll also get a good education that any business can benefit from.

“Gurus who claim . . . they can teach you to magically create or alter objective reality with nothing more than “happy thoughts,” the smartest thing you could do is keep your hand on your wallet and back away from him v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.

    . . .

I mean, jeeze Louise — just look at them:  This one’s paunchy.  That one’s bald.  He’s got a face like a horse.  She’s had so many facelifts, that dimple in her chin used to be her belly button.”

So who do you think is the “paunchy” one? The bald one? Who do you think has a “face like a horse” and which one had too many facelifts? And realistically, shouldn’t they have used the now over-used “Law Of Attraction” to fix these defects?

Or . . . is the “law” actually in full force here and we’re seeing it at work, but are not paying attention because we’re too absorbed in what the sleight-of-hand artist is doing with his other hand? Cue Bullwinkle voice, “Nuthin’ up my sleeve!”
