Mindjet Strikes Back - It Ain’t Over ‘Til She Says It’s Over!

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I took Mindjet to the woodshed for letting their NDA muzzle their Keep profits soaring with ROI Copywriting!beta testers from talking about about the upcoming release of (end of this month) MindManager 7?

Guess what? I got a phone call for my troubles. Cue ominous music. And when I saw that it was from Mindjet, I thought “Uh-oh . . . called to the principal’s office. Again.”

When I realized the person on the other end was their CMO, Lisa Arthur  . . . I was doubly-sure my mouth had landed me in hot water. Again.

Make a long story short — we had a nice talk and came to a meeting of minds. And she is a very, very nice woman with a vision to restore Mindjet and its flagship products to its glory days, then carry that into the future.

In earlier posts, I expressed concern that Mindjet had lost touch with it’s customer base and had done a “Thelma & Louise” off the cliffs. In other words, it had gone corporate. I first noticed it when the newsletters, which I used to open as soon as they came in — became the bland, self-congratulatory tapioca we all expect from corporation communications.

For the last 2 years, if I opened the newsletters at all, it was to just give them a cursory glance, then delete and move on to more relevant items.

To be fair, that was all pre-Lisa. Her tenure as Mindjet’s Chief Marketing Officer started last fall. During our call, she outlined her vision and unfurled some of her plans for restoring the trust and commitment of MindManager users.

I’m confident that with Lisa at the marketing helm, Mindjet will find a way to return to it’s roots while continuing to grow as a vital company.

Frankly, I can’t wait to see what she does next.MindManager - the official software of ROI Copy

And Lisa . . . I hope you take me up on my offer to do a guest post. The blogosphere and in particular the MindManager community should get to experience your good humor and your vision.

C’mon in. The water’s fine, and I promise not to dunk you.

    No . . . really. This time I really mean it. Cross by heart . . .
