Climate Alarmists’ Media Cakewalk - Marketing The Free Pass

Imagine how easy your advertising and marketing would be if mainstream media read your ads, dog_pony_show.jpgsalesletters and press releases verbatim and never subjected your claims to scrutiny. Wouldn’t that make your life easier? Apparently, you get that kind of a free hallway pass when you’re a global warming alarmist.

Below, from the watchdogs at JunkScience.com is the newest peeling back of the onion facade on the global warming-humans-are-to-blame argument.

Until recently, that facade had been very lucrative for Al Gore’s company. That is, until Congress was embarrassed into investigating the company after UK financial analysts started their probe earlier this year. For more details, see my reply to Scherotter’s telling comment.

I clipped my favorite part of this newest article to present a balanced approach to the issue, but feel free to click the link and read the full post so you’re educated on both sides of the “debate.”

“People like to complain about the weather,” goes the old saw. This is especially true nowadays as bad weather becomes an excuse for the climate alarmist-friendly media to trot out its man-made global warming boogeyman.

Source: Junk Science: New Science Challenges Climate Alarmists?

When they say “climate alarmist-friendly media” I often think how Seattle is considered “Berkeley-North” especially when they read press releases from climate alarmists verbatim without vetting the data first.

If you haven’t read Michael Crichton’s book State Of Fear then make it a priority, but only if you want to remain informed on how global warming-humans-are-to-blame proponents get a free pass from the media to say whatever they want without anyone challenging their claims.

When Crichton’s book was first released, he was commenting on a phenomenon that few people started paying attention to. It wasn’t until several news readers were caught reading Greenpeace press releases verbatim on air that the story caught national air.

Now, several years later, it’s hard not to see it played out daily.

If you do nothing else, just read the Appendix in the back of Crichton’s book. Not only will you be a wiser person, but the next time someone throws about the phrase “global warming” you’ll be smart enough to ask two simple questions:

    1. “Who funded the research you’re quoting?”
    2. “What do you mean when you use that phrase ‘global warming’? Do you mean the natural warming trend that has been going on for thousands of years that predates the Industrial Revolution, or do you mean the (unsubstantiated) claim that man is the cause of the warming?”

If it’s the latter, then ask question #1 again. Rinse and repeat until you get a satisfactory answer or the other person’s head explodes.

State Of Fear will educate you enough to never be in that state again regarding global warming.
