Copywriter Whacked By Law Of Unintended Consequences!

It looks like I really stepped in it this time! Just noticed this . . .body_snatchersposter

In response to my earlier comment and subsequent post to this blog (read it here if you haven’t already), Steve Klein, the owner of the Yelm Community Blog posted this while commenting on my remarks: “This community is being challenged to show it’s stuff by Mr. Terry!”

Here’s what I said to correct his mischaracterization:

“Whoa, there, Steve! Let’s not put words in my mouth, okay?

“Mr. Terry” thought he was challenging one man’s opinion and drawing a parallel to larger scale events that affect us all. I consider what you wrote to be a

mischaracterization of not only what I said, but my intent as well. I hope that wasn’t deliberate.

And if I’m going to be tackling the mindset of an entire community, then I need a time-out to review Invasion Of The Body Snatchers to see how Kevin McCarthy and Donald Sutherland handled the task of taking on a collective.

And yes . . . take a deep breath and laugh, everyone — that was a funny.

Steve, are you saying that your blog speaks for the entire Yelm community? Is the Reverend then, speaking for the majority of the citizenry? Are you?

Are you saying that the Yelm community at large has a collective “stuff” that it needs to prove? What “stuff” do you think it needs to “show” . . . and to whom?

Now maybe you meant something different than what you wrote (I’m sincerely hoping so), and the meaning didn’t carry through, but all I have to go on are the words on the page.

So I’m a bit confused by what appears to be an attempt to rally a community (or your perception thereof), to say nothing of being troubled by the implications.

Again, I hope you meant something other than what you said.

    Care to clarify?

And btw, what kind of “discourse” happens when everyone (allegedly) believes the same thing?”

    **UPDATE**

I removed the hyperlinks to the blog in question. If you’re really curious, then you know how to Google it to get there. As for myself, I’m not going to help him get more publicity.
