Climate Life Preserver Tossed To Kids - Selling Fear Vs Facts

Soooo . . . they give the Nobel Peace prize to the man scaring the beejezus out of kids. Nice. Well, Life_Preserverwho was left after Jimmy Carter and Yasir Arafat?

A recent front-page Washington Post story revealed how the global warming hysteria is taking a terrible emotional toll on children.

I blogged earlier what it did to us back in ‘69. Remember, that was the impending Global Cooling scare. Apparently, the Big Scare in 2007 is Global Warming. Makes you wonder what they’ll be scaring the next generation with.

Just goes to show you, every generation has its merchants ready to peddle fear for

    personal gain, to kids nonetheless.

    Again . . . nice.

Fortunately, what we didn’t have when I was in grade school was balance. Clips below from the article, the link takes you to the full enchilada . . .

While Scholastic may want to risk its reputation with the David-Gordon book, parents who want their children to have the correct information about the pivotal relationship between atmospheric carbon dioxide and global temperature may want to check out Fretwell’s “The Sky’s Not Falling.”

While Fretwell’s book does not come close to matching the number and visual quality of distract-from-the text illustrations that the David-Gordon books contains, Fretwell’s strength is that her text is easy to read and, most importantly, is scientifically accurate.

“The Sky’s Not Falling” is meant to spark discussion and rational thinking among kids — rather to scare them.
