Democrats Own Worst Enemy - Another Fine Marketing Mishap, Stanley

Mainstream Democrats are hopping mad. The rabid attack dogs of the Democratic Party, i.e., the liberal Far laurelhardy1.jpgLeft “nutroots” branch are dragging down the rest of the party, and the rest of the Dems want it to stop, and stop now!

Hey, don’t get all pissy with me, I didn’t say it — the New York Times and Democrat Barney Frank did. I’m just the messenger, boyo.

The New York Times, long known for pushing the liberal agenda by printing ‘All the news that fits their ideology,’ even acknowledged this in their recent article: Liberal Base Proves Trying to Democrats .

Meanwhile, Massachusetts Democrat Representative Barney Frank is feeling the lash of the latest nutroots campaign against him, “There is a tendency in American politics for the people who feel most passionately about an issue, particularly ones that focus on a single issue, to be unrealistic in what a democratic political system can deliver,” Mr. Frank said, “and that can be self-defeating.”

“This is a moment of truth for responsible liberals in the Democratic Party,” he added.

I agree. Then in a separate interview, he continued this line of reasoning:

“This is a moment of truth as far as I’m concerned for responsible liberals in the Democratic Party,” Frank said.”The question is: Can we govern responsibly? And governing responsibly means working with everybody, listening to and exchanging views with the people who care passionately . . . but then as you go forward with the goals, taking reality into account,” Frank said. “People who then denounce those who take reality into account . . . make it impossible for us to govern.”

Well-reasoned, sir. I wish more in your party were of like mind and this reasonable. If I recall correctly, only Joe Lieberman has expressed a similar strategy. And earlier this year, Speaker Nancy Pelosi shared Frank and Lieberman’s pain when the radical liberals of Code Pink protested outside of her home.

The Far, Loony Left is now attacking their own.

    Nice. Smooth move, Exlax.

In a recent dust-up with radical liberals, I learned that the vocal minority tries very hard to appear to speak for the majority, to appear larger than they are. Just like the puffer fish do on the Discovery Channel.

What needs to happen is that the quiet majority of the Democratic Party needs to speak up more often so the rest of us don’t confuse them with the very vocal minority.

It’s one thing to run attack ads ala MoveOn.org, Media Matters, et al. Quite another thing to roll up your sleeves and getting to the work of governing, which means working shoulder-to-shoulder with those who may have different views of the same problem.

The Democratic majority in Congress is learning that the hard way. Their fringe groups, however are late to this particular party.
