Pirates Of Progressives - A Marketing Mishap Musical Done Horribly Wrong

This hit me after my last post, where in the opening paragraphs, I foreshadowed the following abberation. As Walter Terry the very model of a modern major copywriteryou’ll recall, Hillary Clinton doesn’t want to be called a “liberal” anymore, and ixnay on the progressive-nay. She wants to be called a “modern American Progressive.”

So what I’m about to do, I deeply apologize to Gilbert and Sullivan because they never did anything to deserve this:

I present to you a verse from the new Gilbert and Sullivan (and Terry!) musical theater, The Pirates of Progressives!

TITLE: I Am the Very Model of a Modern ‘Merican Liberal

(to the tune of the Major-General’s Song)

I am the very model of a Modern ‘Merican Liberal
I’ve information taxable, spendable, and govern-able
I know the price of healthcare, and I quote the scandal historical
From Kennedy to Monica-Lew, in order categorical;ROI copywriting wants you

I’m very well acquainted, too, with matters welfare state-able
where everything is equal, both the simple and equitable
About stealthily raising taxes, I’m teeming with a lot o’ news
With many cheerful facts about the paycheck you will lose . . .

Chorus: In short, in matters taxable, spendable, and govern-able
She is the very model of a Modern ‘Merican Liberal!”

Okay, that’s as far as I got, but you get the idea (and hopefully a smile).

Here’s the YouTube video to get the flavor of the song (in case you’re unfamiliar with it):
